Jintotolo Island Balud, Masbate
Jintotolo is an island within the Jintotolo Channel, part of the Province of Masbate, Philippines.It constitutes two barangays of the Municipality of Balud (Barangays Cantil and Jintotolo) and has a population of 3,574 persons in the 2015 census. Its elevation was recorded at around 120 feet (37 m) in 1919. A lighthouse with a tower at 51 feet (16 m) in height exists on Jintotolo island.
Balud, officially the Municipality of Balud, is a 4th class municipality in the province of Masbate, Philippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 38,124 people. The name Balud came from the name of a bird.
The island can be reached via 30 minute boat ride from Bongcanaway port. It has white sand beaches for family picnics and outings. The blue, cool water is ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving.
This light house was built on 1903 at Cantil, Balud, Masbate with 51f(15.5m) tower height, 187f(57m) focal plane. It is still active. Only the tower is in good condition, the original light and lantern were replaced.
