Paradise of Abra Kaparkan Falls Nature Engineered Spring Terraces

The town of Tineg in Abra is home to some of Abra’s most famous and beautiful attractions like Kaparkan Falls (open only during rainy season, around August 2017), Apao Rolling Hills and Piwek Rock Formation.

The town of Tineg in Abra is home to some of Abra’s most famous and beautiful attractions like Kaparkan Falls (open only during rainy season, around August 2017), Apao Rolling Hills and Piwek Rock Formation.

 

According to Wikipedia where Abra is a landlocked province of the Philippines in the Cordillera Administrative Region in Luzon wherein the capital of it is Bangued, and its nearby provinces by Ilocos Norte on the northwest, Apayao on the northeast, Kalinga on the mid-east, Mountain Province on the southeast, and Ilocos Sur on the southwest.

 

Province of Abra is located at the western section in the part of Cordillera Administrative region in Luzon where it has ranges of highest mountain from west to east where the river runs from south which is Benguet to the other parts of the province along Abra Valley connected to Tineg River from eastern uplands of nearby municipalities and one of it is Municipality of Dolores.

Before going to Kaparkan Falls located at the town of Tineg in Abra, you have to seek the local tourism officer first for the purpose of having registration. The registration is a tool where it is a prerequisite and the tourism officer give some advice about the safety precautions to avoid incidents in the falls. In terms of registration there are fees to be collected since the falls is too far from the town and you have to take a ride through truck where the brgy. road there going to falls is rough and muddy.

 

Because of the rising influx of tourists going to the falls and the limited number of trucks as well as limiting of tourists to avoid overcrowding. Preregistration is required:

(Fees may change without prior notice)

  • 300 pesos per person for group of 30 persons
  • 590 pesos per person for group of 10 persons

 

During riding the truck you are expected to feel unnecessary movement of the truck where it goes down on one side (left or right and front or back) due to uneven softening of the muddy and uphill road.

Kaparkan Falls is a nature engineered spring terraces of natural pools of overflowing water that stretched its way down among some trees at the mountainside with a big ballet tree at one area. These pools are of different sizes for wading or a little bit of immersing.
